The Hobbit: Held Captive from Theaters for Too Much Longer?

Will he or won't he? Should he or could he? Will they let him or won't they let him? We've been hearing it for months...and months...and months, this ongoing drama between Peter Jackson and New Line Cinema about the proposed "The Hobbit" movie, which Jackson once was set to direct, and now might be again.

Naturally, "might" is the operative word.

In the upcoming edition of Entertainment Weekly, this cover story offers an overview of all the infighting, but don't look for too much news or any answers about whether the movie will happen with Jackson. Essentially, for those who don't want to read the piece, New Line and Jackson's people are talking, egos are getting soothed, progress slowly is being made.

And billions of dollars are on the line.
