Not Bernie Mac!

At the age of 50, Bernie Mac died this morning due to complications with pneumonia.

His rep issued this statement: "[He] passed away this morning from complications due to pneumonia in a Chicago area hospital. No other details are available at this time. We ask that his family's privacy continues to be respected."

The actor currently has two films in post-production, including "Soul Men" and "Old Dogs." His "The Bernie Mac Show" was one of the brightest, best television shows from 2001-2006.

Recently, word was out that Mac was doing better and responding to treatment. And now this. It sucks--he was exactly what Hollywood needed. He never seemed willing to compromise.
