Entertainment Weekly has released the first image of The book of Eli, which is set for release on January 15, 2010. Above is the first image of Denzel Washington in the film.

The drama revolves around a lone hero who fights his way across the wasteland of post-apocalyptic America. He's the protector of a sacred book that may hold the key to saving humanity.

The Book of Eli stars Denzel Washington, Gary Oldman, Mila Kunis and Ray Stevenson, and it will open January 15, 2010.
