WATCH/LOOK: Avatar Trailer and Two New Posters

8/21/2009 Posted by Admin

Click to supersize the posters, but more importantly, check out the first trailer for James Cameron's long-awaited film "Avatar" below. It looks terrific! Visionary, fresh, compelling. This just went to the top 10 of those films I'm eagerly awaiting to see by year's end.

The movie opens wide on December 18, 2009.

The official synopsis: "Avatar takes us to a spectacular new world beyond our imagination, where a reluctant hero embarks on a journey of redemption and discovery, as he leads a heroic battle to save a civilization. The film was first conceived by Cameron 14 years ago, when the means to realize his vision did not yet exist. Now, after four years of actual production work, Avatar delivers a fully immersive cinematic experience of a new kind, where the revolutionary technology invented to make the film, disappears into the emotion of the characters and the sweep of the story."

I saw the 16-minute free preview tonight. Truly a spectacular, must-see cinematic experience... especially in 3D. Edge of your seat excitement (don't forget to breathe), engaging characters (what little we got to know), and an eye-popping world with such vibrant, glowing colors it takes your breath away. It should be higher than Top 10 (unless you see 10 movies this fall), easily Top 3 or better yet, #1!

One correction, release date is December 18.

Also, tonight they were selling tickets to midnight shows on December 17 before they open to the general public tomorrow.

Bottom line: Don't miss this one in the theater! See it in 3D! The DVD will serve only as a memory of the amazing theatrical experience this movie looks to be.
