Broken Lizard On "Troopers" Sequel

It’s crazy to think that "Super Troopers" was released almost 10 years ago, back in 2001. I think it’s easily one of the funniest films of the decade, so it was great news when the Broken Lizard gang announced a few years ago that they would be planning a sequel. Since then not much has happened with the film, but now the group has said that they are progressing with a script for the sequel.

The group was out doing promotion for their recently completed film, “The Slammin' Salmon,” and in an interview told Movie Cultists that they are three drafts into "Super Troopers 2."

Said Jay Chandresekhar: “We have the financing. So we’re going to try to make a deal with Fox.” He also said that Brian Cox would be returning to the film as well. “Oh, yeah. Yep. He'll be in it. I mean, he loved the first one. He loved it.” The group also said that the new film would pick up where the last one left off.

Ten years is a long time between sequels, but for the following that Broken Lizard has attained over the years, they should have no problem releasing "Super Troopers 2" to some success. “Club Dread” was underrated and hilarious, and I haven’t met another college student in the past five years who didn’t love “Beerfest.” I can’t wait to see what the group has done on “Salmon,” and I’ll be very excited to see when "Super Troopers 2" actually starts filming.

“The Slammin’ Salmon” will be released on Dec. 11, and look out for "Super Troopers 2" sometime in 2011.
