"Iron Man 2" Movie Trailer Review

You'd be hard-pressed to find someone who didn't like the first "Iron Man" film. You won't find a better Tony Stark than Robert Downey Jr., and director Jon Favreau managed a near-perfect interpretation of the comics in tone and style. The trailer for the highly anticipated sequel has been released, and though I was pretty ambivalent about the whole thing based on early set photos and plot information, it looks to be just as entertaining as the first.

The trailer pretty much just gives us the basics: Now that Tony Stark has revealed his identity as Iron Man, the government and military want information about the power suit. Meanwhile, a Russian scientist played by Mickey Rourke makes a power suit of his own to fight Iron Man (his motives have yet to really be specified). I haven't quite been won over on Rourke's character; I'm not a big fan of how he looks and he just seems a lot more over-the-top than the villain in the first. Still, hard not to like Rourke as a villain. Unfortunately, we don't even get a quick glimpse at Sam Rockwell as the film's other villain, Justin Hammer, who I'm anticipating far more than Rourke.

Rourke aside, though, the film looks like a lot of fun and it's likely that Downey Jr.'s performance alone will make it worth watching. Also interesting is that Downey and Justin Theroux (of "Mulholland Dr.") have taken over as the film's writers.

Overall, it's hard to say how "Iron Man 2" will compare to its predecessor, "Iron Man," but at the very least, it looks entertaining.

The film is set to be released May 7, 2010.

When I saw Iron Man, I expected to see something that I would like just as much as other comic-to-movie adaptions (Spiderman, for instance). However, I was not expecting what I got.so i had bigger expectation from it's sequel..
