Guitar legend Johnny Marr, known for his association with bands such as The Smiths, Modest Mouse and more recently, The Cribs, has been reported to have written the music for the new Tony Krantz film, "The Big Bang."

The film, which stars Antonio Banderas, is about a private detective (Banderas) who is searching for answers to the death of a stripper who no one has ever seen. The search gets more complicated as everyone Banderas interrogates winds up dead.

The film also stars Delroy Lindo, William Fichtner, Sam Elliott and Snoop Dogg. Currently in post-production, the film is expected to be released in 2010.

Making his debut as a film composer, it'll be interesting to see what Marr has up his sleeves with his vast palette of sounds. There will be pressure for him to come through with excellence as his fellow rockers Karen O of Yeah Yeah Yeahs ("Where The Wild Things Are"), Win and Regine Butler of Arcade Fire ("The Box"), and Nick Cave ("The Road") have set pretty high standards for rock n' roll film composers.
