Music Video Review: "3" by Britney Spears

Ladies and gentlemen, let it be known that Britney Spears is back. Her new video for her racy single "3," from her upcoming album, showcases the Britney that fans across the world fell in love with. Gone are the ratty hair extensions, the questionable Ugg boots-and-cutoffs ensembles, the smeared eye makeup-- Ms. Spears is positively smoldering once again.

While the video is devoid of any sort of far-fetched plotlines, it is a perfect depiction of Britney doing what she does best--entertain. "3" captures Britney looking the best she has in a long time--her makeup is flawless, hair is artfully tousled, and her body is to die for. Spears wriggles and writhes in various revealing ensembles, all of which show off her newly toned physique. In terms of costuming, Britney jumps on the no-pants trend and pays homage to Lady GaGa in a low-cut white bodysuit.

"3" illustrates the fact that at 28 years old and with a slew of public meltdowns behind her, Spears hasn’t lost her touch. She still dances with the vitality and agility that made the world fall in love with her in her early music videos like "Hit Me Baby One More Time," but with a sexier, sleeker edge.

I really enjoyed the video for "3." With such a racy song (“Three is a charm/two is not the same/I don’t see the harm/ So are you game?), I think Britney made the right move by downplaying its intense sexual nature and forgoing a raunchy plot in favor of a fun, sexy dance video.
