"Repo Men" Red Band Movie Trailer Review

Have you ever wondered what you'd get if you combined Steven Spielberg's "Minority Report" with over-the-top action film "Shoot 'Em Up"? Probably not, nor had I, before I saw the newly released trailer for Miguel Sapochnik directorial debut "Repo Men," starring Jude Law and Forest Whitaker.

The film takes place in the near-future and follows Remy and Jake (Law and Whitaker, respectively), two men who work for a company that distributes artificial and incredibly expensive organs to those that need them. What Remy and Jake do is this--if the client and organ has been given to is unable to maintain their payments (and prices are steep), the two repo men head in and take the organ back. Whether the client lives or dies isn't their problem.

The twist comes when Remy finds himself in need of an organ himself. He receives a heart--but can't pay for it. He finds himself a victim to the system from which he's been making a living, and his former partner Jake is the one hired to get the heart back at any cost.

It looks like an incredibly entertaining piece of work. Jude Law seems to be having a lot of fun with the material (which thankfully doesn't seem to be taking itself too seriously) and the rest of the cast, including Liev Schreiber as Law's boss, looks excellent. And of course, being a red band trailer, we get hints of all the bloody goodness we'll be seeing, and the film definitely doesn't appear to be holding back in that department.

"Repo Men" is set for release on April 2, 2010.

    Looks good.
Story is too similar to Repo: The Genetic Opera.
