"Shrek Forever After": Movie Trailer Review

"Shrek Forever After," directed by "Surviving Christmas" and "Sky High" helmer Mike Mitchell, follows the beloved green ogre as he attempts to return to his normal life after being sent into a twisted alternate Far Far Away by Rumpelstiltskin (here voiced by Paul McCartney). This is planned to be the final film in Dreamworks' "Shrek" series, and the trailer was released this weekend with "Avatar."

After the rather weak third entry in the series, "Shrek Forever After" seems to be an attempt to return the series to its roots by, well, completely twisting them around. In this alternate universe, Shrek has never met Donkey; Puss in Boots is overweight and lazy; and Fiona and Shrek have never fallen in love. It's a pretty cool concept, and it'll bring a lot of fresh material that the films definitely have been lacking since the original.

Just based on the trailer, the movie seems amusing enough. The characters are so familiar at this point that it would be hard not to get some sort of enjoyment out of them. That said, the trailer leaves out one of the more pleasant aspects of this film--the alternate universe concept allows for the return of John Lithgow as Lord Farquaad, who was Shrek's Napoleonic villain from the first film.

What I hope the film accomplishes most of all is a solid and legitimate finale to the series. "Shrek" started things off brilliantly and it's not too late to end everything on a good note (and I mean actually end, not claim to end and then come back with a fifth movie two years later).

"Shrek Forever After" will be released May 21, 2010.

Value :I really gained an ideal value simply because cash advance interest rates are actually surprisingly very competitive.
