Vincent D'Onofrio, Kyra Sedgwick Sniff Some "Chlorine"
Vincent D'Onofrio ("Law & Order: Criminal Intent") and Kyra Sedgwick ("The Closer") will star in Jay Alaimo's comedy-drama "Chlorine," says The Hollywood Reporter.
According to the Hollywood Reporter: Kyra Sedgwick and Vincent D'Onofrio have signed on for "Chlorine," an indie dramedy from writer-director Jay Alaimo.
"Chlorine" revolves around a family struggling to maintain their well-to-do lifestyle in their overly materialistic New England community. Sedgwick plays the matriarch, who is more interested in appearances than for caring or showing affection toward her husband (D'Onofrio), who she pushes into a bad real estate deal.
Alaimo co-wrote and directed "Slingshot," starring Julianna Margulies. This isn't the first time he has tried to film "Chlorine"; a few years ago, the filmmaker assembled a cast that included Ray Liotta and Demi Moore, but the picture fell apart because of Hurricane Katrina and scheduling.
Both Sedgwick and D’Onofrio recently have had great success on television.
After "Chlorine," Sedgwick will get back into production on the latest season of "The Closer," TNT's top-rated show, which also garnered Sedgwick a Golden Globe Award as well as an Emmy nomination.
D'Onofrio is best known for his leading role on "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," and also recently wrapped production on crime thriller "The Irishman," with Val Kilmer and Christopher Walken.
Christopher Beatty, Gary Giudice and Alaimo are producing the film, which Michael Liberty will executive produce. Matt Fiorello and Peter Tannenbaum helped co-write the script.
Sedgwick and D’Onofrio are both fantastic actors, and it will be very interesting to see them play a married couple. Shooting the films should be inspiring for Alaimo, who already tried once to get this film made and clearly wants to get it done.
Filming kicks off this month in New Jersey.
