Jonah Hill is Now a Babysitter

If I were a parent, the last person I would want babysitting my kids is Jonah Hill. From a kid’s perspective, it would be perfect. Hill is a big goofball who is lewd, crude and generally irresponsible. Mass chaos would ensue if he were the sole supervisor of three young children. Such is the plot to “The Sitter,” a film which Hill has just signed on to star in.

Hill will play a dropout college student who comes home for the semester. His single mom guilts him into babysitting the neighbor’s three kids one night. They have two boys and one off-the-wall girl. He reluctantly agrees and it turns into a night none will soon forget.

David Gordon Green (“Pineapple Express”) is set to direct this semi-reboot of the 1987 hit, “Adventures in Babysitting.” It’s essentially the same plot, only this time around, the babysitter is played by Jonah Hill, not Elisabeth Shue. There is literally nothing in common between these two thespians, which is what makes this so intriguing.

If you’ve seen “Adventures in Babysitting,” try to mentally replace the young, beautiful Shue with the young, maybe-not-so-beautiful Hill. It’s a pretty hilarious thought.

With both Hill and Green onboard, “The Sitter” has success written all over it. Fox owns rights to the films and they’re aiming for a fall 2010 start date. Fox has been searching for the right lead for a while now. The Hollywood Reporter reports that Zac Efron and Zach Galifinakis were both rumored at one point. Now that Hill is officially signed on, it’s fair to say they’ve made the right choice. The last thing the world needs is another Zac Efron movie.
