There have been multiple reports that Matt Damon is at the top of the list to star as Robert F. Kennedy in a film adaptation of the biography," Robert Kennedy: His Life," written by Evan Thomas. If there was ever a casting decision that made complete sense in every way, this would be it.

The clean-cut Damon could easily be physically transformed into the equally dapper Kennedy. Kennedy was known for his wavy, side-parted hair. Damon has pulled that look off many times before. Damon is 39-years-old, Kennedy was only 42 when he was assassinated. Perfect.

Of course, there is the accent. Kennedy was renowned for his thick Massachusetts accent. Damon, who hails from Cambridge, Mass., can seamlessly lay on some wicked Bostonian lingo at any given moment. Damon has a healthy dose of acting chops as well. This should be a fairly demanding role, and if he does officially sign on, this could be the ticket to his first acting Oscar.

Emilio Estevez directed “Bobby” in 2006. This told the story of the assassination of Kennedy through the eyes of various different people who were at The Ambassador Hotel when the shooting happened. That film strongly excelled from one of the most diverse ensemble casts in recent memory. Estevez never actually showed the face of Kennedy though.

With a big name like Damon playing the lead role, look for this film to be more focused on the life of Kennedy himself. Damon has yet to officially sign one, E! Online reports. Once the final script is written, he will make a decision. For now, be excited about the prospect. It sounds unbeatable.
