Black Eyed Peas' “Imma be Rocking that Body”

Oh, the Black Eyed Peas, how you enchant pop culture with your synthetic hooks and memorable lyrics. Now you have moved on to bigger and better things by turning your music videos into sci-fi hip-hop movies. Michael Jackson changed it up with “Thriller,” so why can’t the Black Eyed Peas?

All in all, this is an exceptional piece of work. It’s not without its faults, but no video can be perfect. The first two minutes can be skipped because it’s just a buildup to the song. Robots are theme in this video and they are all over the place. Every Black Eyed Pea is in black and silver, and at one point, they actually are riding robots. Other times, they are on sleek motorcycles or in a pseudo Batmobile. There are robots of all kinds--stereo robots, robots doing the robot--it’s really kind of a robot jamboree. The highlight of the video happens when the stereo robots are dancing with the giant robots.

Aside from the highly stylized video, the song itself is also pretty good. It’s classic Black Eyed Peas. The one fault in it is Fergie's chipmunk vocalization that comes in the middle of the song. While it’s obviously digitalized, it doesn’t add to the song and it really is annoying. No one likes hearing the chipmunks sing. “Imma be Rocking that Body” is another hit for the Black Eyed Peas and their video is definitely one to watch.
