Ethan Hawke and Kristin Scott Thomas have joined the cast of the indie thriller "The Woman in the Fifth."
According to Variety: Based on Douglas Kennedy's novel, Hawke plays an American film lecturer who has now taken up residence in Paris after his involvement in a scandal at his former university. He soon shacks up with a widow who is a suspect in a series of gruesome murders.
Haut et Court is producing, while Film4 is co-financing. Memento Films is handling international sales (film was offered to buyers at the European Film Market in Berlin).
Hawke will next be seen in "Brooklyn's Finest," which opens March 5. Scott Thomas' latest film is "Nowhere Boy," which premiered at Sundance.
Hawke has been one of my favorite actors in Hollywood since I saw him in “Before Sunrise” way back in the day. He has had some great roles over the years, including “Training Day” and “Gattaca.” He also co-wrote the sequel to “Before Sunrise” with Richard Linklater and co-star Julie Deply, which is a vastly underrated film.
Pawel Pawlikowski directs the project. Filming kicks off on location in Paris this month.
