Malin Akerman Replaces Lindsay Lohan in “Inferno”

While Lindsay Lohan is spending her holidays in rehab, her “Inferno” director left her for another blonde. (Okay, she's a red head to the left, but blonde in real life.)

Lohan’s much-hyped comeback role as '70s porn star Linda Lovelace in Matthew Wilder’s biopic has been in jeopardy thanks to the star’s recent drug-related setback that boomeranged her back to a treatment facility.

It was just announced Malin Akerman (“Couples Retreat,” “Watchmen”) is Wilder’s new Lovelace. Lohan is still feeling the sting.

With Lohan in and out of treatment and court this year, “Inferno” was referenced in tabloids, news outlets, and the general media circus that is her life. You can’t pay for that kind of publicity. Through it all, Wilder remained by his troubled leading lady’s side, insisting the show would go on with Lohan as Lovelace despite her recent foray back into rehab forcing production delays.

However, doubt loomed and Wilder finally broke the “I’m with LiLo” facade last week. “You know we have been through a lot with this project, and although she is still our number one choice--we do have a Plan B if she cannot film ‘Inferno,’" Wilder stated. He claimed a clamor of interest from other actresses who wanted to slip on those porn star shoes, initiating talk of Lohan’s inevitable exit from the project.

Since breaking onto the scene with the success of “Freaky Friday” and “Mean Girls,” Lohan’s projects have been overshadowed by reports of incessant partying, run-ins with the law, and overall out-of-control lifestyle.

Now with the embattled starlet out of the picture, what’s next for Lohan?
