MTV has announced that they will air Nicki Minaj’s tell-all documentary, entitled "My Time Now," about her rapid rise to hip-hop superstardom on Sunday, November 28th at 10 PM EST. The documentary drops on the heels of the much-anticipated release of her first album, "Pink Friday," which dropped Monday, November 22.

Not familiar with Minaj? You will be soon. The twenty-six year old Queens native has had a meteoric rise to fame. Minaj is a member of Lil Wayne’s Young Money clan and garnered a ton of attention with her sassy verse on Young Money’s hit single “Bedrock” last year. Since then, it’s become nearly impossible to listen to a hit rap song without hearing Nicki on it (see Trey Songz’s "Bottoms Up," Sean Kingston’s "Letting Go" and most recently, Kanye West’s "Monster," among dozens of others).

In addition to killer collaborations, the diva has an incredibly strong solo career developing as well. Her hit single, the uber-catchy "Your Love" was played ad nauseum this summer by radio stations across the world, and her newly released "Right Thru Me" (which she performed live on the Wendy Williams Show on November 14th) is gaining similar notoriety.

As if Minaj’s music isn’t enough to cement her superstar status, there’s also her positively enthralling public persona to contend with. The Trinidadian beauty has a flair for the dramatic, as illustrated by her outrageous ensembles and penchant for Barbie-pink and platinum blonde wigs. Her "alter ego," the British-accented "Roman Zolanski," makes numerous eccentric appearances on Minaj’s verses and her song "Roman’s Revenge" featuring Eminem is named after that alter ego. Also, who can forget her beef with Lil Kim? The two have been feuding for months, but things came to a head recently when Lil Kim said, “I got more love from Queens than [Nicki]…” during a November 8th appearance.

Whether you’re a fan or foe, it’s hard to deny that Minaj currently has serious presence in the rap world. While personally I adore Minaj and can’t wait to see what she does next, I think that the controversy and unease surrounding her popularity only adds to her mystique. Despite the naysayers,  her album release and documentary prove that Nicki’s star is still rising and that she has no intention of stopping anytime soon.
