Word to the wise--if you’re going to commit a crime, do it off camera.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro of “Jersey Shore” fame was indicted for third-degree assault. His crime was committed during the filming of the first season of “Jersey Shore.”

Although the actual fight was not televised, the victim, Stephen Izzo, was captured on film face down, right after being punched. Using the film as evidence, the indictment claims that Ronnie “did purposely or knowingly cause significant bodily injury to Stephen Izzo by striking him in the face with a closed fist, causing him to lose consciousness."

This isn’t Ronnie’s first run-in with the law. Earlier this year, he was arrested for outstanding warrants due to unpaid parking tickets and once more for disorderly conduct. Clearly walking the straight-and-narrow is not for J-Shore cast members. The show is a veritable hot box of drunken run-ins and rage.

The courts will now decide Ronnie’s legal fate. If convicted, Sammi Sweetheart’s beau could be facing up to five years in prison.
