"Sopranos" Duo Re-Team At "The Twylight Zones"

Movie News

While James Gandolfini and David Chase will always be remembered mostly for their work on the groundbreaking HBO series "The Sopranos," I was always curious to see what the two could do on another type of project. Clearly, they felt the same way, because the duo will work together on a new feature helmed by Chase.

According to Variety, Gandolfini and "The Sopranos" producers David Chase and Steven Van Zandt are teaming for Chase's coming-of-age drama "The Twylight Zones" for Paramount Pictures.

The story is set in 1960s New Jersey and follows three high school friends who form a band inspired by the classic rock influences of the time.  The movie follows their rise and the pitfalls of fame. Gandolfini is set to portray the father of one of the teens (John Magaro).

The film has a solid young cast in Magaro, Bella Heathcote, Will Brill and Jack Huston, and the addition of Gandolfini makes it even stronger. Huston starred memorably as WWI veteran Richard Harrow on the HBO series "Boardwalk Empire" this past year and has signed on as a series regular for season two.

Chase has always shown his passion for classic rock music while working on "The Sopranos." Between his selections for music and his idea to cast E Street Band member Steven Van Zandt as Sylvio, he has always made music an important aspect of the show.

Chase is writing, producing and will direct the film while Van Zandt will produce and supervise the music. Shooting is set to kick off in February.
