Deadline has confirmed that DreamWorks has bought J. Michael Straczynski's new script Voices from the Dead, which is said to be about the real friendship between Sherlock Holmes creator Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Harry Houdini, with the added fictional element of the two pursuing a killer with the help of a psychic.

JMS is perhaps best known for writing the Clint Eastwood directed film The Changeling, which starred Angelina Jolie, as well as his status as the showrunner of beloved sci-fi television drama "Babylon 5." The writer got his start in television penning Saturday morning cartoon fare like "He-Man" before moving up to more dramatic productions such as "Murder, She Wrote." "Babylon 5" was Straczynski's breakthrough, though, and from there the screenwriter's career took off including a long stint writing Amazing Spider-Man for Marvel Comics as well as other series.

Marvel continues to have a deep relationship with JMS, since he wrote the screenplay for the upcoming Thor film and was a writer for that series for several years, though he now writes mostly for rival publisher DC. JMS was also the original writer for the World War  adaptation that Brad Pitt's production company was producing and has been attached to Jeremy Bruckheimer's next project, an adaptation of an alternate-history Civil War video game. No casting details or production dates have been revealed concerning Voices from the Dead but it seems likely that JMS' name alone will attract a high profile cast and director.
