Pulitzer Prize-winning author Michael Chabon now appears to be poised on his television breakthrough, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Chabon and his wife, Ayelet Waldman, are in the midst of creating a series temporarily labeled "Hobgoblin" that is said to concern the exploits of con men and magicians who used their skills at deception to fight the Nazis during World War II.
Chabon has explored somewhat similar ground with his magnum opus The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, which featured as its protagonists two kids from circus families with interests in the art of escape and illusion, one of whom was a refugee from Prague. Chabon also took the character Kavalier and Clay create in the book, The Escapist, to the medium of comics, where several series of his exploits have been published. At one point a Kavalier and Clay movie was in development but in 2007 Chabon stated in interviews that as far as he knew it had "gone south."
