Paul Newman Dead at 83

Paul Newman died yesterday of cancer at 83.

If ever there was a film career you wanted to say "Thank you" for, this would be high among them. What a rotten way to start the day. What better reason to turn to some of his best movies? As for me, I'm starting with "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof." And then "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid," "The Hustler," "Hud," "The Road to Perdition"....and so many others.

The New York Times has a terrific tribute to him here.

Do a Google News search to find scores of other tributes.

You're right, what a rotten way to start the day. At least, we will always have his wonderful films to remember him by. This is something that I will never get over, as long as I shall actually live.

We will miss you always, Mr. Newman, and you will never be a failure to communicate.

It's like one of the truly brightest stars in the sky has fallen, and the sky will never be as bright as it was before.

My heart goes out to all of his family and friends.
