Academy Award Nominations Announced

Here's the list--and it doesn't include "The Dark Knight" for Best Picture, which means no superhero will be onboard to save the Academy Awards from ratings obscurity. Since the movie deserved to be nominated (in my opinion, it was high among last year's best), this is all especially frustrating.
And why wasn't Kate Winslet nominated for Best Actress for Revolutionary Road? Why The Reader, which was a supporting role? Doesn't make sense. Revolutionary Road was the superior movie.
This is shaping up to be a "Slumdog Millionaire" year, which is a shame because in spite of how good the movie is, it still was far from last year's best movies. And isn't it curious that we're voting in Robert Downey Jr. for his performance in black face during a year when we just hired our first black president?
Oh, Academy...

Dissapointed that the barrier-breaking "The Dark Knight" wasn't nominated for Best Picture. You're absolutely right, it should have been, since it IS one of last year's, well...best pictures! Nice to see all the other categories in which it's been nominated, though. And hardly any noms for "Revolutionary Road", which is both surprising and wrong, seeing as it's wonderful. Love that "WALL-E" got nominated for Best Original Screenplay! Good to honor its daringness. Also love the 13 noms "Benjamin Button" received, it was one of the year's best. However, my biggest and most joyous surprise is Richard Jenkins getting credit for his work in the great "The Visitor"! Now it'd be cool if he could actually win. Hope this year's ceremony is a bit better than last year's, frankly.

Soooo glad Dark Knight didn't get nominated for Best Picture, it wasn't good, the only redeeming qualities were Heath Ledger, the special effects and the cinematography. Other than that it wasn't very good, waaaaay too long, Christian Bale CAN'T ACT! as well as too many story lines that didn't make a lick of sense.
I'm glad that the people who decide the nominations aren't comprised of a bunch of fanboys and comic book geeks.
Anyways, no big surprises, i'm just glad that Penelope Cruz got nominated for Vicky Crisitina Barcelona, she really made that movie come to life, love her!
Oh yeah, and i don't understand Kate Winslet being nominated for the Reader for leading actress in stead of supporting either, i thought she was amazing in Revolutionary Road and deserved a nom for that.
I loved RDJ in Tropic Thunder, glad he got nominated, even though everyone knows who's going to win (he deserves it though)
