Product description: "2001: The birth of an all-girl roller derby revolution begins in Austin, started by spicy, headstrong women sporting unforgettable aliases such as Varuca Assault, Punky Bruiser and Holly20Peno. After overcoming countless hurdles to organize, recruit and train, the rowdy rollergirls known as Bad Girl, Good Woman (BGGW) enjoyed a smashingly successful first year, only to find a rift forming among the ranks of the 80 women. Polarized by issues of insurance, finances, and the direction the league should take, disenchanted skaters pull together and collectively bring their grievances to management. Accusations flew, and emotions ran high as the two camps faced off. Two leagues emerged from the clash – the Lonestar Rollergirls and the Texas Rollergirls -- and, in four short years, the two groups overcame all obstacles to revel in undreamed of success. Riding a wave of international acclaim, the leagues, featuring teams such as the Holy Rollers, Putas Del Fuego, Hell Marys and Texecutioners, over-the-top personalities, jaw-dropping outfits and kick-ass attitude, spearheaded and pioneered the modern era of roller derby, inspiring hundreds of other leagues to start up across the globe. Shot over a five-year period by filmmakers Bob Ray and Werner Campbell and utilizing a mix of verité footage and interviews, HELL ON WHEELS captures the true grit of the glam-rock retro sport -- a dizzying clash of athleticism, exhibitionism, egos, politics, and business tha t is 21st century roller derby."
