Spider-Man Spin-Off to Star Venom

Here's some news:

"Sony has officially confirmed a Spider-Man spin-off focusing on none other than Venom himself. Hired to helm the script is the writing team from Zombieland, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick."

After "Spider-Man 3" essentially botched Venom's appearance in that movie, Wernick is on record as saying that he plans to give him the respect he deserves in this new movie.

“We read [Venom] growing up, but we were not experts,” admits Reese. “We certainly know the mythology of Venom, but went back and learned more when it became clear that we could actually get this job.”

Reese also confesses that he's already worried about potential backlash from fans of the comic and Venom. “There's a burden on you to meet the expectations of people,” he explains.
