"Killers" Movie Trailer Review
"Killers"
By our guest blogger, Joel Crabtree
Last summer, Katherine Heigl worked with director Robert Luketic to create one of the worst movies of the season — "The Ugly Truth." This summer, Heigl and Luketic find themselves paired up again, and this time around they've added Ashton Kutcher for "Killers."
Sounds like a recipe for summer disaster.
While on vacation, Heigl's Jen Kornfeldt meets her perfect man in Kutcher's Spencer Aimes. Playing up on every woman's dream, Kutcher spends the entirety of their initial meeting shirtless — that'll bring in the box office.
The two rush into a marriage and return home, where Kornfeldt discovers her new husband's secret — he's a hired killer for a government agency. There's really nothing new here.
The trailer does offer exotic locales, a vibrant suburban setting and some surprisingly quick dialogue. Unlike last summer's "Ugly Truth," "Killers" actually looks kind of fun, and that's what this brand of romantic comedy should be.
Kutcher, unlike "The Ugly Truth's" co-star Gerard Butler, exudes a considerable amount of likability. Some people may carry a grudge over the actor's creation of the trucker hat trend. I've let it go. Kutcher was the one actor who came out of "Valentine's Day" unscathed. In "Killers," he is going to make all the difference.
Whether or not the film is any good, expect it to make a killing at the box office.
"Killers" hits theaters June 4, 2010
