Peter Sallis (Wallace and Gromit), Bill Owen (The Handmaid's Tale) and Brian Wilde (Microscopic Milton) star in the world's longest-running sitcom, which follows the misadventures of three loveable senior delinquents tramping around the Yorkshire countryside. In Vintage 1977, the trio attempts to catch an escaped ferret, serenade flowers in the town café, and create their own float for the Queen's Silver Jubilee. Along with seven silly season four episodes, the DVD features bonus material including a 30-minute interview about Vintage 1977 with series creator Roy Clarke - the genius behind Keeping Up Appearances."

I love this show, especially Bill Owen. I first discovered it when we lived on the Canadian border. While there we watched many BBC shows that never made it to the US. I'm glad this was one that did because it is very funny. I imagine I have seen a lot of these shows but I am equally sure there are many I haven't seen. They stand up well to rewatching.

My wife and I watch every episode of "The Last Of The Summer Wine" that the local PBS airs! Unfortunately it is often replaced with other programs, so I am slowly trying to purchase the entire series on dvd. But not only is that expensive, but since they only release 1-2 seasons per year. I'm not sure my old body will live long enough to do this.
The characters remind us so much of several dear friends we know. I have even gotten my grandchildren hooked on this show ! Which you have to admit, is lots safer for them to watch than most shows out there now. So if you could manage for my family to win one of the copies. You would be making three generations of family very happy ! Thank you very much for this opportunity.

I'm a huge fan of Summer Wine. In fact, My entire family cried when Compo died. We are so close to all the characters, it was like losing a loved one.
