Cate Blanchett? Meet Russell Crowe

According to Variety, Cate Blanchett has signed on to play Maid Marian in Robin Hood. Sienna Miller left the film in late 2008.

Russell Crowe is set to star as the title character in the film, which was originally titled Nottingham. The script, originally written by Ethan Reiff and Cyrus Voris (Sleeper Cell), was rewritten by Brian Helgeland and now has the feel of a Gladiator-style retelling of the classic tale.

Ridley Scott, who directed Crowe in Gladiator, will direct Robin Hood.

The film, budgeted at $130 million, will film in London with production slated to start in April.
