Though the script is still in development stages, director Ridley Scott's upcoming film regarding Maurizio Gucci, the slain grandson of company founder Guccio Gucci, may have two big names lined up for its lead roles. Leonardo DiCaprio, who recently worked with Scott on his spy film Body of Lies, may be brought on to portray Maurizio, with Jolie portraying his wife Patrizia, who was convicted of arranging a hired killing of her husband.

Slashfilm says of the script:

"[T]he script is still being worked over. The current draft is by Charles Randolph, but Variety says a new writer will be hired to craft a new draft, with an eye towards a vague 2010 start date."

It's an interesting pairing, to say the least. This won't be Oscar-winner Jolie's first film in which she's in a troublesome marriage, as she played opposite her actual husband Brad Pitt in 2005 as a hitman hired to kill him, and DiCaprio had his share of on-screen marital problems in last year's Revolutionary Road.

It may be a bad idea to get any hopes up for the film right away, however--Scott is attached to multiple films expected in upcoming years, including a film adaptation of the board game Monopoly and a prequel to the original Alien, the film that jump-started his career. So a Gucci biopic may be a ways away, but it's certainly an intriguing idea nonetheless, especially with such a killer pair in the lead roles.
