"Paranormal Activity" Director's Next Film Secures Distribution

"Paranormal Activity" director Oren Peli recently wrapped production on his next film, "Area 51," but in spite of the massive success of his first film, it lingered without a distributor. That has changed. According to Variety, "Area 51" finally has secured distribution.
Employing a similar style to "Paranormal," the film centers on three teenagers whose curiosity leads them to the mysterious Area 51 base in Nevada.
Paramount distributed Peli’s first film, and they have stepped in as the film's U.S. distributor. The question now is this: Can Peli pull off a similar success using the same techniques he employed in "Paranormal," came out of nowhere to become a sensation? In part, its success had to do with Paramount’s ingenious marketing of the film, but also because the film featured genuine levels of creepiness and dread.
Naturally, there will be higher expectations for Peli's latest, but if Paramount and the director handle the project properly, they might be facing another hit.
