"Clash of the Titans" New Feature Trailer Movie Review

Another remake is on its way to the big screen. “Clash of the Titans” is set for a March 26, 2010 release.  The film is a remake of the 1981 version, itself an adaptation of the myth of Perseus. This time around, Sam Worthington ("Avatar") fills the sandals of Perseus and he’s ready to take on the gods.

Zeus (Liam Neeson) feels humans need to be “reminded of the order of things” and so he unleashes various beasties and disasters upon the earth as a friendly reminder of that order. Perseus is brought into the picture and battles with the many mythological creatures sent to punish his species. Not much exposition is found in this trailer--just shots of Perseus squaring off against giant scorpions, Medusa and other monsters. That’s perfectly fine because the action is what this movie looks to be all about and it shows that off well. “Clash of the Titans” is shaping up to be a great action movie set in mythological Greece.

The CG effects look great, but that could be the main source of contention for some. There are those whose loyalty to the amazing work of Ray Harryhausen could color their view of the film. Its status as a remake also could hurt its chances of succeeding as it will inevitably be compared to the original. Since in the trailer, dialogue was eschewed in favor of featuring the action scenes, its hard to tell if the film will end up being stilted and unconvincing.  Still, these concerns should be put aside for now, though, because “Clash” looks great. This is one action move worth keeping an eye on.

Definitely different than the original. I watched the older version many a time. Looks very action packed.
