The Sundance Film Festival has always been known as a place where great movies are discovered. I think it is safe to say that this year, it did more than just discover a great movie. This year, it discovered “Daddy Longlegs.”

This film is about a dad named Lenny (Ronald Bronstein), and the ways in which he balances his time with his two young boys and his job in the big city. Lenny only gets to see his two sons a couple weeks out of the year. So when he has time with them, he needs to teach them about growing up and what it’s like to be out there in the real world. Sounds simple enough. The only problem is, Lenny hasn’t quite mastered the art of growing up himself.

This trailer does a great job of portraying every angle of the film. While we see everyone from Lenny's ex-wife to a school official nagging him about his bad parenting styles, we also see the remarkable relationship he has with his two children.

This movie appears to be perfect for both adults and children, because it is about each teaching the other. I think that in today’s society, it is a known fact that adults must teach their children to do the right things. However, there also are those times when parents must step back and allow their children to teach them and bring back the memories of what it felt like to be so carefree. Judging by the trailer, the film does a great job of portraying just that. It provides several moments of laughter and lessons, while tugging at your heartstrings the whole time.

This film was released on January 22 and was directed by Benny and Josh Safdie.
