Ke$ha's “Blah Blah Blah”

By our guest blogger, Megan O'Malley

“Blah Blah Blah” promotes the idea that talking to someone in a bar is no way to get into that person’s pants. The more you talk, the less likely it is that you’ll get lucky. Ke$ha is kind of a hot mess of a pop star, so this song works perfectly for her. Her vapid self-centeredness works perfectly with the video to “Blah Blah Blah.”

This video is awash with glitz, glamor and Nokia product placement. The director tries to set up the video with an intro clip following Ke$ha and a friend as they are harassed by a guy as they head into the bar. From there, Ke$ha is busy shooting down all types of men old and young alike. They all talk too much for her. There is not much going on in this video other than some the pop star showing off her bubbly personality. She dances around, pushes guys away and at one point even swipes someone’s toupee. Oh, the high jinx. “Blah Blah Blah” is a great representation of Ke$ha’s personality--all looks and no substance.

Her voice is completely on auto tune through out the entire video, which makes it hard to tell whether she is actually a good singer. In this day and age anyone can be a pop star so long as they have a good producer. Until she shows off whether she has the pipes to back up her pop image, Ke$ha will just be another dime-a-dozen singer.

Grade: D+

I think you are missing something. Can you see her left hand? Do you recall Alan in The Hangover? Is “Your Love is My Drug” an honest song? Is it true, and good, and beautiful? Do you have a sense of humor? Have you read “Titbottom’s Spectacles,” by George William Curtis? Can you see that Rose is dope? Just wondering.

    Megan,

Rose is Ke$ha Rose Sebert. She entered my mind by way of my ear, during an interview on NPR, and has not left. Rose is welcome for as long as she desires to stay. I met Zach Galifianakis through her, when she said, during an interview, she wanted “to make out with “the phat guy from The Hangover.” Somehow, she managed to sneak him into “Your Love is My Drug,” with only her laughter and affection for his beard sticking out. I was amazed at her agility and cunning. But, thought it best to let Zach out of the song, so he could see the beauty of Rose himself. I imagine he has.

Being less cunning and agile than Rose, I could not prevent myself from falling in love with her as I assisted Zach out of the song. I did not foresee it, but shall never regret it. Rose is a creature of quite singular and extraordinary beauty. Joy to you, Rose.
