"Toy Story 3" Movie Trailer Review
It's hard to believe "Toy Story" was made back in 1995. The film was a cornerstone in the modern animation techniques used by Pixas, Dreamworks, and other animation studios. Its follow-up, "Toy Story 2," was equally successful. Nearly 11 years later, we're finally getting "Toy Story 3." All the major voice actors are back, and director Lee Unkrich ("Toy Story 2," "Finding Nemo," "Monster's Inc.") is taking the reins.
The trailer, released earlier this week, looks impressive, to say the least. Buzz Lightyear, Woody and the rest of the gang are getting dumped by their faithful owner, Andy. Andy has grown up and is off to college--no need for childish toys there. The toys are donated to a day care center, and any real-life, talking toy will tell you that day care centers are the worst of the worst.
Carless children slobber all over the toys. They throw the toys around and neglect them. Andy's pals must also compete with the already existing toys in the day care who are led by the charming yet maniacal Ken Doll. "Toy Story 3" takes us on the journey of Buzz Lightyear and company and their search to get their owner back.
Visually, the trailer for "Toy Story 3" is impeccable. The animation is crisp, colorful and stays in the same vein as the first two films. The animation in the first two entries thrived with bright colors and creative camera angles. "Toy Story 3" doesn't seem like it's abandoning those traits, which is good. It's just building on them. The film is shooting with IMAX and 3D capabilities, which makes it all the more appealing.
“Toy Story 3” has to be early front-runner for best animated movie of 2010. This is one of the most anticipated films of the year, animated or otherwise. “Toy Story 3” hits theaters on June 18, 2010.
