"Easy A" Movie Trailer Review
"Easy A"

Ever since seeing Emma Stone in "Superbad" I thought she deserved a lead role. Her excellent supporting turn in "Zombieland" confirmed she deserved some of her own material, and with "Easy A" the young actress will get her first opportunity to prove whether or not she has it in her to carry a comedy.
After pretending to lose her virginity to a friend at school, Stone's character, Olive, is asked by multiple hopeless boys to do the same for them, and as her reputation as a deflowering harlot spreads at her high school, she starts taking advantage of the permission in order to improve her social standing and her financial situation.
The trailer makes a clear comparison to "The Scarlet Letter," and at one point in the film Olive sews a scarlet "A" on her clothes in clear Hester Prynn fashion.
As far as trailers for comedies go, this isn't anything new, but there are some very amusing moments, particularly those involving Olive's parents (played by Patricia Clarkson and Stanley Tucci, an awesome pairing if there ever was one) and Amanda Bynes, who plays a popular religious girl not unlike Mandy Moore's overzealous "Saved!" character. And, of course, Stone seems great in the lead role.
"Easy A" might not turn out to be much more than a cliched and forgettable but reasonably fun teen movie, but sometimes that's all you really need, and certainly it'll allow Stone to broaden her roles a bit. And with such a great cast, not much can go horribly wrong.
"Easy A" comes out September 17, 2010. Trailer is below. Thoughts?
