The Jim Carrey family comedy "Mr. Popper's Penguins" has just grown in size. Actors Clark Gregg and James Tupper have joined the cast of the new family comedy according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The story revolves around Carrey's title character, a man who inherits six penguins that shake up his ritzy life in New York City. Carla Gugino will portray his ex-wife, Amanda, with Tupper playing Amanda's new eco-conscious boyfriend, Rick, and Gregg portraying Nat Jones, who works at the New York Zoo.

Tupper is fairly underrated, having done solid work in the NBC series "Mercy," and on recurring roles on "Grey’s Anatomy" and "Samantha Who?"  He also appeared in "Me and Orson Welles," which was directed by Richard Linklater.

Gregg has been one my favorite supporting actors in recent years having appeared in memorable roles in "Iron Man," "Iron Man 2" and "(500) Days of Summer." He should be a perfect fit for the film and I think he and Carrey could have some real chemistry.

Mark Waters is directing from a script by Sean Anders, John Morris and Nick Stoller. Production has already begin in New York City, while "Mr. Popper's Penguins" comes to theaters August 12, 2011.
