“Ugly Betty” Actor Accused of Samurai Sword Slaying

Things really got ugly for Michael Brea early Tuesday morning. The aspiring actor is accused of murdering his mother with a samurai sword in their Prospect Park apartment in Brooklyn.

Police are holding Brea in connection to the murder after neighbors heard a commotion coming from his mother’s apartment. Yannick Brea, 55, was found dead from multiple stab wounds. Police reported when they arrived, Michael Brea was clutching a bible and a samurai sword, thought to be the murder weapon. Neighbors claimed during the commotion they heard biblical verses recited and the word “repent” over again. One neighbor who called 911 claimed, “He kept repeating words like ‘Moses,’ ‘Jerusalem,’ ‘the grand architect of the universe.’”

Sources report Brea is an actor seen on “Ugly Betty” and “Step Up: 3D,” though no IMDb page exists for him. The 31-year-old actor is currently in Kings County hospital.

According to reports, police called the grizzly scene “extremely bloody,” but Brea has yet to be formally charged. Neighbors are collectively shocked that this happened and believed the suspect had a great relationship with his mother. “I don’t think Michael is capable of doing this, but who knows. Buttons get pushed and people snap,” said a friend of the suspect.
