Golden Globe Nominations Announced

12/11/2008 Posted by Admin

Today, the nominations for the Golden Globes were announced, with no real surprises, though it is interesting to note that both Meryl Streep and Kate Winslet are up for two:  Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress.  That should make for an interesting night....

Unfortunately, The Dark Knight was shut out, with the exception of Heath Ledger for Best Supporting Actor.  Slumdog Millionaire continues to gather support, and it's great to see "In Bruges" on the list.  It was one of this years best and most over-looked movies.

Tom Cruise for supporting actor in "Tropic Thunder"?  He'll take what he can get these days, but it's an odd choice that overlooks too many other fine performances.  Never underestimate the powers of Xenu.

The awards will be handed out in Los Angeles Jan. 11.
