Vintage Trailer: All About Eve
You've likely seen Bette Davis formidably rising above us all on her U.S. postage stamp, in which the cowards at the Postal Service airbrushed out her trademark cigarette. But have you seen the trailer for the movie the image is taken from?
"All About Eve" is that movie, and it's my favorite movie for so many reasons, there isn't enough space in all of the Internets to list them all (let's just say it starts with the script, which features some of the best writing ever in a movie, and then the performances).
Whenever I pass a television and the movie happens to be airing on TCM, I'm sucked into a chair "for just a few minutes" and find myself there until the end. Those who have seen the movie will know why. Just try looking away from it.
If you haven't seen the trailer, check it out below. Interesting how they sold films back in the day. That first blast of smoke Davis hurls at the screen when she's being "interviewed" could burn a hole through the ozone.
