Dennis Lee Hopper's son, Henry Hopper, and Schuyler Fisk, known for her roles in "Orange County" and "I'm Reed Fish," have joined the cast of a new untitled drama currently directed by Gus Van Sant and written by Jason Lew who converted the story from from a play he wrote.

In his first starring role, Henry Hopper will play opposite of Mia Wasikowska as a boy trying to get over the death of his parents. Fisk will play Wasikowska's sister.

The film will is being produced by Bryce Dallas Howard, who stated that "it captures the profoundly defining turning point of a young person's life with stark realism, irreverent humor and intense emotion...I think that Gus was drawn to this story because he has an uncanny ability to convey the complexities of youth and outsiders, and this is, above all else, the journey of an outsider."

Others who have joined the cast are Chin Han ("The Dark Night"), Ryo Kase ("Letters from Iwo Jima"), and Jane Adams.

This will be Van Sant's first film since his critically acclaimed and Academy Award-winning biographical film, "Milk," which appeared in 2008. Known for his emotionally wrenching works in the drama department (having made films such as "Elephant," "Paranoid Park" and "Drugstore Cowboy"), this project shouldn't be anything too new for the lauded director, but with a cast of generally smaller names, it'll be interesting to see what Van Sant has up his sleeves.

What are your thoughts on this new project?
