New Spider-Man Reboot Announces More Casting Choices

As if having awkwardly costumed and weirdly animal-obsessed super-villains chasing after you all the time wasn’t enough, Spider-Man also has plenty of bullies to deal with while he’s mild-mannered Peter Parker.
Chief among them is good ol’ Flash Thompson, the golden boy football star who torments Puny Parker every chance he gets and acts as the comic’s primary antagonist when in the high school setting. A recent report from The Wrap confirms that newcomer Chris Zylka will be playing the part of Thompson.
Zylka has a pretty sparse resume, with most of his roles being on the likes of tv series such as “10 Things I Hate About You” and the rebooted “90210.” Zylka will join a cast that finds veterans like Martin Sheen and Sally Field flanked by other newbies, chief among them "The Social Network"'s Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man/Peter Parker. The stated intent of the reboot has been to revitalize the Spider-Man franchise by granting it a hefty dose of realism like Christopher Nolan brought to the "Batman" franchise.
Joe Manganiello played Thompson in the original incarnation of the Spider-Man franchise but it’s worth noting that Zylka at least looks more like the Flash Thompson of the comic than his predecessor did.
Hopefully the reboot keeps Thompson’s famous fashion sense intact.
