Deadline appears to be overly excited about their prediction that Kristen Stewart becoming Snow White appears to have come true. Way back in January the site declared Stewart the frontrunner for Universal's planned Snow White adaptation. The film, titled Snow White and the Huntsman, is set to be directed by Rupert Sanders and will star Viggo Mortensen in an undeclared role with Charlize Theron tackling the role of the evil Queen.
Stewart is, of course, an obvious commercial choice for the role, with the Twilight franchise still hot amongst the tween (and mom) set. But placing Stewart alongside vets like Mortensen and Theron could potentially be a disaster, since the young actress has yet to be in a role that requires her to do more than pout. With such heavy weights alongside her in the cast, there's a good chance Stewart's negligent acting abilities will finally be blindingly obvious to all.
Weirdly, there's another Snow White film in the works that's supposed to debut in theatres around the same time titled The Brothers Grimm: Snow White, and it's got Julia Roberts in an unspecified role. Both pictures will theoretically be in theatres in time for the Christmas season of 2012, which really is starting to look like the apocalypse, what with all the Ouija and Battleship and ohgodletsjustkillourselvesnow.
