Monica “Everything to Me”

Monica has come a long way from being a teen songstress. She has grown into a beautiful R & B singer, miles away from “The Boy is Mine”. Her newest video, “Everything to Me,” not only showcases her maturity but also her impeccable fashion sense.

The video follows Monica and her family throughout their daily lives. She seems happy and loved although there is doubt as a woman keeps showing up and integrating herself into the picture. With each shot Monica is beautifully dressed in clothes that would make any fashionista drool. Later it is explained that the video is dedicated to the late and great fashion designer Alex McQueen, so props to Monica for working this kind of tribute into her video. All throughout the video viewers assume they know and understand what is going on. Fortunately, Monica has thrown a nice little twist at the end of the video which is a great way to end something that could otherwise come off as quite sad.

Listeners can hear just how much Monica has grown by the way she sings “Everything to Me.” Her sad, longing way of singing touches listeners and makes them understand how she is feeling. Although “Everything to Me” is inherently a love song, there is still a sense of sorrow though out--where will she be when this man is gone? Monica has grown up and her new song will appeal to new and old fans alike.
