McG and Eisner Look to Ouija for Answers

Movie News

The Hollywood Reporter is, ahem, reporting that a few major directors are now in competition for what is surely one of the more dubious franchise attempts film history--"Ouija." Yes, that's right, the board game that's not really a board game is part of the group of Milton-Bradley games that are being made into major motion pictures by a (creatively bankrupt) Hollywood.

Last year it was reported that Peter Berg would be handling Battleship and now it would seem that a whole slew of directors are eager to jump on board the Milton-Bradley gravy train. Most notable are McG, of the "Charlie's Angels" and "Terminator: Salvation" fame, and Breck Eisner, he of the similarly braindead "The Crazies" fame.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, McG arrived for his Universal pitch meeting with apparently several weapons at his disposal, including a script by the "Tron: Legacy" team of Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz and production backing from Michael Bay's "Platinum Dunes." Details on the "Ouija" plot have been unsurprisingly nonexistent but supposedly it will be along the lines of supernatural adventures like "The Mummy."

Since every other generic action director in Hollywood failed to get the gig, including Sylvain "The Losers" White and Pierre "Taken" Morel, odds are McG's subtle touch is just what this production needs. Or they could just remake "Jumanji."
