“Pride and Prejudice and Zombies” May Have Found a Director

Movie News

Although we doubt it will be the prefect date movie—combining horror and gore with drama and romance—movie fans are still looking forward to the eventual release of “pride and Prejudice and Zombies,” the cinematic adaptation of the novel of the same way. Unfortunately, the project has been lingering in development hell. Mike White was originally attached as director, only to be replaced by David O. Russell, who also eventually left the project (apparently this isn’t the type of film you follow-up “The Fighter” with).

According to Deadline, though, Craig Gillespie may be stepping in to fill the role. Gillespie’s name isn’t very big yet, but it may be soon. He directed the enjoyable but slightly overlooked “Lars and the Real Girl,” and went on to helm the as-of-yet unreleased remake of “Fright Night.” It’s possible he did a good job on the latter and has now scored this gig based on his ability to combine humor with horror.

The film is probably a long way off still, but as of now, this is still a good sign. Any forward movement on the project is better than none, and with a director hopefully secured, we may soon get some word on possible casting.

We somehow doubt that Colin Firth will reprise the role he played in the “Pride and Prejudice” miniseries.
